Position Overview

The Senior Property Broker is at the forefront of our Lockton Northeast Client Engagement strategy. They execute product line specific strategy aligned with overall Client strategy developed by the Client Executive/Account Executive in conjunction with the Client. The Senior Property Broker handles all aspects the Client Engagement process including placement and advisory functions. The goal of this role is to develop a trusted relationship with the Client and support their overall business objectives and strategy. The Property Broker will serve as the primary contact for the Client and the markets for all things related to complex Property related risks and will be responsible for providing the client with strategic and tactical product line support as well as excellent day to day service by working in collaboration with the account service team. This person will be directly responsible for staying current on market appetite for all asset types, locations and sizes and response for program design, negotiation, and placement of select Property coverage lines, depending on account complexity and needs. A high performing and successful Senior Property Broker will be a strategic leader, give great advice, deliver transactional excellence, and provide great customer service.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Property Broker will serve as a key leader on the Lockton Northeast Property team, establish Client strategy, and liaise with the markets while developing a placement strategy delivery for all assigned and new business, to include:
    • Property Placements
      • Experienced in negotiating shared/layered programs with over 25 carriers
      • Experienced in pricing for alternative programs (i.e. 100% 1 carrier program and shared/layered program)
    • Acquisition due diligence and pricing
      • Contract review
      • Lender negotiations
    • All Property Modeling, Analysis and Market Meetings
  • Provide visible leadership, both internally and externally
  • Build, expand, and solidify relationships with existing clients at all levels within the company and lead appropriate resources to address the Client's Property risk and capital management needs
  • Offer expert coverage and risk management advice to assigned Clients and any new Business
    • Understand the Client’s overall business, operations, risk management needs to provide strategic advice and day to day support; aligns developed risk strategies with our Clients financial, operational and strategic goals & objectives
    • Cultivate relationships with the most senior leaders in Client organization as well as with day-to-day Client representatives and buyers; listen to Client concerns, provide meaningful advice, and develop potential solutions
    • Plan and develop Client annual renewal strategy
    • Initiate and lead renewal efforts, including market negotiations; maintains overall responsibility for all aspects of the renewal process and day-to-day service
    • Leverages analytics to develop risk strategies, support renewal negotiations and help Clients make informed decisions
    • Manage the performance of the assigned Property team, ensuring superior outcomes for our Clients
  • Develop deep understanding of Clients’ entire property insurance and risk management programs; apply understanding of Client’s business and financial profile to help Clients and the Lockton team build long-term risk strategy
  • Collaborates with Client Executives to ensure and optimize overall service delivery to Clients
  • Ensure full alignment between the Client’s business objectives and strategy and the technical expertise brought by the Lockton account team.
  • Work closely with Producers to develop and implement Property strategies to support new business opportunities
  • Responsible for best-in-class client deliverables aligned with Lockton and the Northeast region
  • Develop engagement strategy (RSM, Renewal Proposals, Stewardship Docs, etc.)
  • Follow industry trends and changes in governmental regulations that may impact the industries
  • Stay current on carrier appetites across all asset types, sizes and locations and build and maintains senior level carrier relationships, including developing new markets, necessary to drive outcomes or solve problems
  • Mentor and develop junior Associates and supports team training and development efforts; remain vested in development of all Associates
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related program preferred or equivalent education and/or experience required
  • A minimum of 7+ years of commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience and/or insurance broking/consulting experience required
  • Understanding of insurance/risk management concepts and their application to Clients' needs
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial information to facilitate decision making and develop an understanding of the financial condition of Clients and prospects
  • Must have exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to instill confidence in Clients and Associates at all levels of responsibility
  • Maintains a network of key insurer relationships
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours and travel as needed
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Legally able to work in the United States

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
